THE Ilocos Region reported the vaccination of some 80,000 tertiary students with COVID-19 vaccines, as of November 22, according to the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).

CHED Ilocos Region chief education program specialist, Dr. Danilo Bose, said the roll out of an intensified vaccination advocacy campaign started in September 2021.

Bose said the achieved rate is 40 percent represents CHED Ilocos’ targeted 70 percent vaccination rate of tertiary students by the end of December to attain population protection.

He said CHED will authorize the start of  the limited face-to-face classes in areas that achieved 70% target next month, December while others can start in the second semester of January or February next year.

When the limited face-to-face classes start, Bose said students who are not vaccinated will have the option to avail of flexible learning via online classes.

Meanwhile, Bose said over 90 percent of teaching and non-teaching personnel of tertiary schools in the region are vaccinated. (Jerick Pasiliao/Ahikam Pasion)
