Binmaley cemeteries closed, Oct. 31-Nov. 3
BINMALEY Mayor Simplicio Rosario issued an executive order directing the closure of all cemeteries and memorial parks in the town from Oct. 31 to Nov. 3 to avoid mass gathering and avert the further spread of COVID-19.
Rosario’s Executive Order No. 43 cited the unusual increase of COVID-19 cases in the town with 170 active cases in 29 out of 33 barangays as of Sept. 17.
The E.O. cited the mingling, crowding and gathering of people in one place as one of the main causes of the surge in coronavirus transmission and overcrowding is highly likely expected during the ‘Undas’ period.
The order said that those who wish to clean and visit the grave site to honor their dead loved ones can go to cemeteries during specified schedules stressing the strict enforcement of health and distancing protocol in the cemeteries. The schedule was posted in the town’s official Facebook page.
Also, the barangay chairmen are expected to issue passes which can be used during the schedule of their respective barangays. Only two persons per household shall be issued passes to be presented upon their entry in the cemetery.
Only interment and cremation services for COVID-19 patients in all cemeteries will be allowed during the ‘Undas’ season on Nov. 1 and 2. (Eva Visperas)
