Asingan mayor, vice mayor also unopposed
THE mayor and vice mayor of Asingan are also running unopposed, like the mayor of Mangatarem, for next year’s elections.
Mayor Carlos Lopez Jr and Vice Mayor Heidee Chua, both in their first term only, have no challengers to their re-election bid for the May 9, 2022 elections.
This was confirmed by the Commission on Elections official in Region 1 after it confirmed earlier that Mangatarem Mayor Ramil Ventenilla was reported as the lone candidate in Pangasinan that filed a certificate of candidacy unopposed.
The report was also confirmed by Provincial Election Supervisor Marino Salas to The PUNCH Thursday.
Assistant Regional Election Director Reddy Balarbar said unopposed candidates need only one vote but the copy of the certificate of canvass and proclamation, which is an official document proclaiming them as winner, can be done only after the canvassing in a town shall have been finished.
