LOCAL leaders in Pangasinan gathered Friday and took their oath as members of Hugpong Para kay Sara (HPS) Pangasinan movement to push Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio to run for president in 2022.

Former Davao del Norte Gov. Anthony del Rosario, HPS national chairman, was in Pangasinan to launch the movement to convince Mayor Sara to run for president “but there is a problem, we have to convince her father to reconsider because Mayor Sara does not want to run because her papa will run for now, as vice president”.

Del Rosario said the mayor has earlier announced she would run for re-election, adding that,  “Mayor Sara does not want to run (for president) because her dad would run for now (as vice president)” because she said “there should only one Duterte to run, it could not be two, (Duterte-Duterte)”.

Del Rosario also said that Mayor Sara is an independent-minded person.

“Will she really run for president? Only she knows it. She refuses to discuss it. But don’t lose hope,” he added.

He also said that they, in Hugpong ng Pagbabago, a regional political party in Davao formed by Mayor Sara to support the candidacy of her father for president then, “will continue working and trying to convince Mayor Sara until she cannot really run”.

Bayambang Mayor Cezar Quiambao, HPS Pangasinan Chapter president, said exactly two months ago when they launched Team AGuiLa (Alyansang Guico-Lambino) for the candidacy of Fifth District Rep. Ramon Guico III and Vice Gov. Mark Lambino for governor and vice governor respectively for 2022 in Pangasinan, they simultaneously launched Run Sara Run movement in this province.

“When the eagle (AGuiLa) started to fly, we flew together with Mayor Inday Sara,” Quiambao said.

Board Member Von Mark Mendoza, HPS vice president, said they are happy that the HPS national officers came for the mass oath-taking of the leaders of 44 towns in Pangasinan.

Vice Gov. Mark Lambino said all the six districts of Pangasinan are represented in HPS.

Among those who joined the mass oathtaking were Reps. Noli Celeste and Tyrone Agabas former Congressman Mark Cojuangco, former Alaminos City Mayor Arthur Celeste, Board Members Von Mark Mendoza, Vici Ventanilla and Liberato Villegas, Binalonan Mayor Ramon Guico Jr., Abono partylist Rep. Conrado Estrella III and Darwina Sampang, (Eva Visperas)
