Saying the Delta variant is more contagious even with asymptomatic patient, Rosario cited  recent studies that more severe symptoms surface in young people if infected by the Delta variant.

“This is very alarming and it is our duty to inform our people for them about the real situation about this variant for them to be guided accordingly,” he added.

Sharing the concerns of Rosario, Fifth District Board Member Chinky Perez Tababa moved that matters pertaining to the Delta variant should take precedence over other matters calendared in the board’s agenda.

Rosario said the populace should be constantly advised of the preparations made by the provincial IATF and the PHO to address the entry of the deadly variant at any time.

Provincial Health Officer Dr. Ana de Guzman also cited researches showing the Delta variant, also known as the B.1 617.2, mutates making it easier to infect human cells and can cause the deaths of people of any age group. (Leonardo Micua)
