Prov’l IATF alarmed over detection of Delta variant in Ilocos Norte
THE Provincial Inter-Agency Taskforce immediately held an emergency meeting following the reported detection of one COVID-19 case with Delta variant in Ilocos Norte.
Provincial Health Office Dr. Anna Ma. Teresa De Guzman revealed the first delta variant case in the region had an exposure to a Pangasinense patient.
She said although the exposed Pangasinense, a returning Overseas Filipino Worker, was with the Delta variant positive patient on board a plane the former tested negative through reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction but still considered as a “person of concern”.
PHO is continuously monitoring the person.
Meanwhile, Center for Health Development 1 COVID-19 focal person Dr. Rheuel Bobis said the first delta variant patient in the region has already been isolated and is currently recovering.
Health authorities again urged the public to get vaccinated to boost the body’s defense against the dreaded virus. (Jerick Pasiliao)
