PPH opens RT-PCR testing to ‘walk-in’ patients
THE Molecular Laboratory of the Pangasinan Provincial Hospital (PPH) in San Carlos City has started to accommodate walk-in clients wanting to avail swab testing for COVID-19.
Dr. Aurelio Cariño, PPH chief of hospital, said the testing service for the reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) costs PHP3,800.
“We are open from Monday to Sunday,” Cariño said, adding that results are released within two to three days. The laboratory runs tests twice per day.
Provincial Health Office chief Dr. Anna de Guzman said the molecular laboratory can process and test 92 swab samples per run.
Cariño further said they give priority testing to patients that died to determine if it contracted the virus.
“If the remains are found negative for COVID-19, the family can decide if they want to have a wake for the remains of their beloved,” he said. (Jerick Pasiliao)
