PHO warns vs. ships docking in coastal towns

THE Provincial Health Office (PHO) is urging residents in the coastal towns of Pangasinan to be vigilant and alert about foreign fishing vessels docking in their area to guard against the possible entry of COVID-19’s Delta variant in their communities.

Dr. Anna Maria de Guzman, provincial health officer, reminded coastal residents that ships have options to dock in wide seaways and the infected crew can easily transmit the Delta variant to locals.

Coastal towns in the province receive foreign vessels often dock along Pangasinan coastlines to replenish supplies.
She said the ship’s crew must be tested before they can disembark.

Meanwhile, de Guzman advised the public to continue observing health protocols religiously as she warned that the Delta variant could spread easier than earlier known coronavirus strains. (Ahikam Pasison)
