SEVERAL offices of the Calasiao municipal government, including the public market area, were temporarily closed on order of Mayor Joseph Arman Bauzon due to the continuous spike in COVID-19 cases, among them are town government employees.

Per Bauzon’s Executive Order No. 105, series of 2021, liquor ban was also imposed anew effective August 16 in a bid to slow down infection among the town’s population.

The Provincial Health Office already placed Calasiao on top its COVID-19 watchlist with 88 cases.

EO No. 105 bans consumption of liquor and other alcoholic beverages in all public places in Calasiao as Bauzon believes that drinking and consumption of liquor may endanger the safety of the people during these difficult times when compliance with lawful order must be strictly enforced.

According to the EO, when people get intoxicated, they lose their inhibitions and are prone to violating the minimum health standards set by the Department of Health in preventing the contagion.

In a subsequent public advisory announcement, the information office of Calasiao named the areas and government offices temporarily closed by Mayor Bauzon based on his earlier EO 101: the public market on August 16, Municipal Health Office and Rural Health Office on August 17 and the Calasiao Municipal Hall main building on August 18.

The LGU office not located at the main building of the municipal hall continues operating with regular office hours. (Leonardo Micua)
