2,490 barangay officials in Pangasinan and 28 national government agency representatives  participated in the virtual presentation of the Barangay Levelling Session conducted by the Joint Regional and Provincial Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (R/PTF-ELCAC) last week.

DILG Regional Director James Fadrilan said the session explained the Executive Order  No. 70, the  advocacy in the fight against insurgency groups as a whole-of-nation approach and  showcased the efforts of the various government agencies and local government units  in the campaign.

In his message, National Security Adviser Hermogenes Esperon, Jr. said Region I is already free of insurgents after the only surviving guerrilla group was dismantled by authorities.

To ensure lasting peace, Esperon said leaders must adopt the three antidotes to insurgency – good governance, good economics and good citizenship.

“Our duty is to see to it that they will not come back so we could benefit from the dividends of peace. I am confident that our leaders in the provinces are dynamic and under them, the communist-terrorist groups cannot come back,” Esperon added.

Gov. Amado Espino III, represented by Col. Rhodyn Luchinvar Oro, credited the  insurgency-free status of Pangasinan to the joint efforts of the various government agencies  and LGUs.

Among those presented and discussed were presentations from the National Intelligence Coordinating Agency, 702nd Brigade of the Philippine Army, Philippine National Police PNP, National Economic Development Authority, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, National Commission on Indigenous People and the provincial government of Pangasinan.

Gov Espino said in his message. (PIA Pangasinan/ VHS)
