Capitol plans to relocate provincial jail
THE provincial government plans to relocate the provincial jail in Lingayen after the historical Casa Real in Barangay Poblacion, Lingayen has been rehabilitated and restored.
In an interview, Governor Amado Espino III said the planned relocation will make the location of the Casa Real a “purely” historical site once the the provincial jail situated beside it, is relocated.
“Once the provincial jail is relocated, we could at least feel the essence of this compound (that includes the Lingayen Municipal Hall) as a historical site,” Espino said.
He said the provincial government is eyeing to transfer the provincial jail facility to either San Carlos City because it is near the Pangasinan Provincial Hospital or to Burgos town where the Reformation Center of the provincial government is situated.
“We already have an area in mind in San Carlos City, but the problem is government will have to buy the land but in Burgos, there might be a family that would be willing to donate its land to the provincial government,” Espino said.
The governor said at least three to four hectares of land will be needed for the new location of the provincial jail. (Jerick Pasiliao)
