IT can be said that there is already herd immunity at the Region 1 Medical Center (R1MC) with 95% of its medical staff and employees already inoculated with COVID-19 vaccines.

R1MC medical director Dr. Joseph Roland Mejia said with most of their staff and employees already vaccinated, both the hospital’s frontliners and patients are protected from the dreaded COVID-19.

“They are now protected. In case that they acquire the virus, there is a big chance that they would not feel severe symptoms and will be asymptomatic,” he said.

Mejia encouraged the public to get vaccinated to have an extra protection from the virus.

Meanwhile, Mejia said there are still close to a hundred COVID-19 patients in their isolation facilities, pointing out that most of the cases are residents of Pangasinan who are working or had travelled to the National Capital Region. (Jerick Pasiliao)
