THE mayor of Alcala has issued an executive order banning recreational swimming and picnic activities along the coastline of the Agno River in the town to avert the spread of COVID-19.

In his Executive Order No. 8 series of 202 issued on May 24, Mayor Jojo Callejo said he is constrained to prohibit groups and individuals from continuing to gather at the Boraoac Eco-Park in Barangay Laoac and other parts of the whole stretch of Agno River to swim and to hold picnic and drinking sessions.

He said he issued the total ban to control and manage the increasing rate of local transmission of COVID-19 in their municipality.

The town reported 24 active cases as of May 24. (Eva Visperas)
