MOA with PBSP for drug-resistant management program

GOV. Amado Espino III is expected to sign a Memorandum of Agreement with the Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP) for the continuous implementation of the programmatic management of drug-resistant tuberculosis (PMDT) project in the province.

The Sangguinang Panlalawigan authorized the signing of the agreement for the continuation of the program.

The Phil. Business for Social Progress is the current Global Fund recipient that supervises the management of funding and implementation of the ACCESS TB Project or Advancing Client-centered Care and Expanding Sustainable Services for TB Project (the Global Fund Project) in the country.

In his sponsorship statement Board Member Jeremy Agerico Rosario disclosed identified the Global Fund Project needed to support the Department of Health (DOH) in the expansion of its PMDT, to totally eradicate tuberculosis in the country and this project would help reduce the prevalence of tuberculosis health problems in the province.

PMDT is a provision of diagnostic and treatment services to Drug Resistant Tuberculosis (DRTB) patients through the treatment centers, satellite treatment centers and treatment sites. (PIO/RRB)
