VM Belen Fernandez calls for unity in council

“TAKE off our political colors and instead, let’s all don one single political interest, the best interests of Dagupan City and of the Dagupeños.”

This was the rallying call made by Vice Mayor Belen Fernandez, the SP presiding officer, during the first regular session of the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) which was attended by all the newly elected and re-elected councilors.

“Today, let us all step off from the campaign mode but let us not forget our campaign promises,” said Fernandez.

She added, “Let our personal commitment be to our God and our contract be with our constituency.  Good governance must continue to be our commitment, our direction”.

Fernandez said she wants the city council to make its singular most fervent promise to serve the best interests of Dagupan, City and the triumph of  every Dagupeno, shall be  its passion.

She expressed belief that through mutual trust, respect and cooperation, the council will continue to achieve more and bring the city to greater heights.

New officers of the Sanggunian Panglunsod are:

Maybelline Fernandez – majority floor leader, chairman on rules and procedures; chairman, committee on social welfare and community development, and committee on public information, ex-officio member of all committees;

Councilor Jesus Canto – presiding officer pro tempore; chairman, committee on market and slaughterhouse and committee on health and sanitation.

Councilor Karlos Reyna – assistant majority floor leader; chairman, committee on environment, committee on public works and infrastructure, and committee on waterworks and public utility

Councilor Ma. Librada Fe Rreyna – deputy presiding  officer; chairman, committee on women, children and family affairs, and committee on local and  international relation.

Councilor Jeslito Seen – chairman, committee on finance, committee on trade and industry, and committee on non-governmental organization affairs.

Councilor Alipio Serafin Fernandez – chairman, committee on laws and judiciary, committee on tourism and cultural development.

Councilor Luis Samson Jr. – chairman, committee on education, and committee on peace and order.

Councilor Alvin Coquia – chairman, committee on land utilization.

Councilor Marcelino Fernandez – chairman, committee on agriculture and fisheries, and committee on barangay affairs.

Councilor Marc Brian Lim – minority floor leader; chairman, committee on Urban Poor.

Councilor Redford Christian Erfe Mejia – assistant minority floor leader; chairman, committee on Cooperatives.

Councilor Alipio Serafin Fernandez – chairman, committee on youth and sports Development.
