Suspects in slay of 7-year-old girl charged
‘FATHER’ AND STEPMOM ARRESTED
THE City Prosecutor’s Office in Dagupan has filed charges against the suspects in the killing of a seven-year-old girl whose body was discovered along the shoreline of Bangus Ville, Barangay Bonuan Gueset, on August 15, 2025.
After evaluating the evidence — including material proof and witness accounts — the Prosecutor’s Office on August 18 indicted the respondents for Kidnapping with Homicide, with the charges carrying the elements of premeditation, treachery, and conspirac
The case will now proceed to a full trial.
The Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (PPPO), led by Officer-in-Charge Col. Arbel Mercullo, said the suspects, the victim’s known father and her stepmother, were swiftly arrested on the same night of the crime through coordinated operations of the Dagupan, Asingan, and Urdaneta Police Stations.
“Our trace of the vehicle they used was of great help, up to the time they rented the vehicle, plus the cooperation of the owner of the vehicle, where all of them were present, including the GPS, dashcams, and that was of great help to our investigation,” Mercullo said.
Initial investigation showed that the known father was enraged after discovering through a DNA test that he was not the girl’s biological father, according to Mercullo.
The known father of the child is now legally married to another woman, who had a miscarriage in June and may be suffering from post-partum syndrome.
The PPPO assured the public that authorities are exerting all efforts to guarantee a thorough, fair, and speedy resolution of the case.
