DAGUPAN City Mayor Belen Fernandez cheered the endorsement by Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) of her and her entire Unliserbisyo team, saying the support of the religious group that is known to vote as a block is a big boost to their candidacies in the May 12 election.

Fernandez, who celebrated her birthday last May 6, said the INC’s backing signifies its recognition of her administration’s performance in the last three years.

“Nais ko pong ipaabot and aking taus-pusong pasasalamat sa mga kapatid sa Iglesia Ni Cristo sa pangunguna ng inyong Tagapamahalang Pangkalahatan, Kapatid na Eduardo V. Manalo, sa pagpili ninyo sa akin bilang kandidato sa pagka-alkalde na inyong susupurtahan sa nalalapit na halalan,” she said in a post on her official Facebook page.

The Unliserbisyo team is composed of reelectionist Vice Mayor Dean Bryan Kua, and candidates for councilors Joshua Bugayong, Danee Canto, Jaja Cayabyab, Marvin Fabia, Michael Fernandez, Tala Paras, Karlos Reyna, Luis Chito Samson Jr., Jeslito Seen, and Joey Tamayo.

The INC also endorsed comebacking representative Gina de Venecia, who is running for the Fourth District of Pangasinan.

The INC is estimated to have up to 6,000 members in Dagupan.

In her campaign sorties, Fernandez has consistently vowed to continue delivering the best service possible to the people of the city if she and her team are given another three-year mandate. (Leonardo Micua)
