MAYOR Belen Fernandez and her political allies in Dagupan City joined President Ferdinand Marcos Jr’s political party, Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP), before filing their certificates of candidacy for the May 2025 elections.

Fernandez, along with Vice Mayor Bryan Kua and Councilors Jeslito Seen and Dennis Canto, and Atty. Joey Tamayo, Karlos Liberato Reyna IV, Danee Canto, Joshua Bugayong and their other allies took their oath before a PFP ranking official at the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City on September 26.

Their oath-taking coincided with a political event at the PICC where Marcos formally announced the 12 senatorial candidates of his Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas.

Those who have yet to take their oath include Councilor Michael Fernandez and former Councilor Luis Samson Jr.

The Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas candidates are Interior and Local Government Secretary Ben Hur Abalos; reelectionist Senators Imee Marcos, Pia Cayetano, Lito Lapid, Ramon Revilla Jr. and Francis Tolentinol; former Senators Panfilo Lacson, Tito Sotto and Manny Paquiao; Makati City Mayor Abby Binay; and businesswoman Camille Villar.

In a statement, Mayor Fernandez said: “We joined the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas because this party advocates a program of government that is suitable to our political, economic, social and cultural background as a nation”.

“We share the party’s dream that is “a society that is free of illegal drugs, free of corruption, free of crime, free of insurgency and free of poverty,” she added. (Leonardo Micua
