Deadlines for completion of projects in Dagupan bared
CITY GOVERNMENT WARNS CONTRACTORS
THE construction of new drainage system and elevation of the road in Arellano Street is targeted for completion on March 30 or at the end of the first quarter this year, while the shorter project on A.B. Fernandez Avenue from the street junction with Arellano Street and M.H. Del Pilar Street, up to the Quintos Bridge, is set for completion on March 15.
The M.H. Del Pilar Street, whose construction started only on January 2, 2024, is also targeted for completion on April 15.
No deadline was given on the ongoing construction of Perez Boulevard from the junction of M.H. Del Pilar Street up to the Magsaysay Bridge.
The deadlines to finish the projects as provided for in their contracts with the Department for Public Works and Highways (DPWH) regional office were bared by the contractors during a meeting called by Mayor Belen Fernandez last January 5.
Fernandez earlier said that any contractor who will not complete their projects in accordance with their respective deadlines will be recommended to be penalized with hefty fines for each day of delay.
Meanwhile, Mayor Fernandez said the restoration of Arellano Street temporarily as a one-way street will enable the three contractors working in their area to complete their contracts with least interruptions.
Meanwhile, Public Order and Safety Office chief Arvin Decano said the one-way traffic on Arellano Street that allows only north-bound vehicles to pass was made upon the recommendation of DPWH.
He said the south-bound vehicles originating from Bonuan were advised to take right turn along Jose de Venecia Expressway Extension. (Leonardo Micua)
