BIGGEST DRUG HAUL IN REGION 1

SOME P2.5 billion pesos worth of suspected shabu were seized in a buy-bust operation conducted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Pozorrubio on Friday, August 12, where four persons, one of them a Chinese national, were arrested.

PDEA Director General Wilkins Villanueva, who came to Pozorrubio after the operation, told The Punch that the seized suspected shabu weighed around 32 kilograms.

The arrested suspects were identified as Ke Wujia, alias James Dagle, a Chinese national temporarily residing in Agoo, La Union; Jenson Yago, 29; Ritchelle Repuesto, 28; and Jhon Berth Jago, all of Negros Occidental and temporarily residing in a subdivision in Barangay Banding Pozorrubio.

The buy-bust operation was effected by agents of PDEA when they posed to buy five kilos of shabu worth P5 million from the suspects using boodle money.

When the suspects fell into their trap, they were arrested by the operatives.

The operatives soon discovered more blocks of suspected shabu in the house being rented by the suspects bundled in 18 sacks packaged as Chinese tea with the trade mark “Guanyiwang”

Although the P2.5 billion worth of shabu seized may not be the biggest seizure made by PDEA in the country, it was confirmed it to be the biggest drug haul in Pangasinan and the entire Region 1.

PDEA Deputy Director General Rodrigo Pimental said the cache of shabu seized by operatives might have been smuggled into the country through the sea.

Madali makuha yong mga supply dito kasi nasa dalampasigan ang Region  1,” said Pimentel.

He said members of the syndicate then repack the smuggled shabu in Pozorrubio and send it to their customers in Pangasinan through a technique called “dead-drop”.

The syndicate reportedly purchase a used car,  leave it at a designated area with the suspected shabu inside, covered by blankets and junk food. (Ahikam Pasion)
