From last week’s active 127 cases, down to 85

COVID-19 cases in Pangasinan is fast dwindling with 85 active cases remaining as of December 2 compared to 127 last November 25.

Health officials are optimistic that if the trend will continue, the province could be declared COVID-19 free on or before the year ends.

There were only 39 new confirmed cases added to the tally over the past 7-day period while 80 patients recovered and only one had died.

From November 26 to December 2, the average new cases being logged daily were 5 while the average number of patients that recovered were 11.

At the height of the third surge of disease from August to September, Pangasinan was averaging ng more than 400 daily cases and as many as 800 cases in one day.

The new cases brought the total number of COVID-19 cases in Pangasinan since the contagion started in March 2020 to 35,474 while the number of total recoveries stands at 34,185. The total number of death is 1,204.

Records of the Provincial Health Office (PHO) showed there are 19 towns and cities that are deemed COVID-19 free: Agno, Aguilar, Alaminos City, Balungao, Bautista, Binalonan, Bolinao, Laoac, Mabini, Mapandan, Natividad, Rosales, San Fabian, San Jacinto, Sual, Urbiztondo, Urdaneta City and Villasis.

The municipalities and cities that remain  under the COVID-19 watch list by PHO and the Department  of Health  are: Anda (11), Malasiqui (10), Bayambang (6), Sta. Barbara (6), San Carlos City (5), Dagupan City (5) and Basista (4), Binmaley (4), Bugallon (4), and San Quintin (4).
