COVID cases in Pangasinan now average four daily

THIRTY-FOUR new active COVID-19 cases in Pangasinan were reported over the six-day period ending on December 20.
However, there were 24 patients that recovered. The positive note was no death was recorded during the past six-day period.
There were six new cases logged on December 16 with one case recovered; only 11 new cases were logged on December 17, the only day that Dagupan scored double digit increase; six cases on December 18 with one case recovered. And there were also six new cases added on December 20 versus four recoveries; December 19 registered one case but three cases recovered.
Active cases slightly increased to 40 from 31 on December 16.
This brought the total number of confirmed cases to 35,595. Of the number, 34,334 had recovered while 1,221 had died.
Malasiqui topped with 5 cases, Lingayen (4), Mangaldan, San Carlos, Bayambang, Sta. Barbara and Urdaneta City (3 each), Mangatarem, Mapandan, San Fabian and Umingan (2 each), and Alcala, Asingan, Binmaley, Burgos, Manaoaqg, Rosales, San Carlos Coty and San Quintin (1 each).
Dagupan, an independent component city of Pangasinan, had five remaining active cases as of December 19.
Twenty nine cities and municipalities are deemed COVID-19 free: Agno, Aguilar, Alaminos City, Anda, Balungao, Bani, Basista, Bautista, Binalonan, Bolinao, Bugallon, Calasiao, Dasol, Infanta, Labrador, Laoac, Mabinogion, Natividad, Pozorrubio, San Jacinto, San Manuel, Sison, Sta. Maria, Sto. Tomas, Sual, Tayug, Urbiztondo and Villasis.
Provincial Health Officer Dr. Anna de Guzman said the continuing downtrend of cases is a clear indication that the end of the pandemic is near.
She said PHO monitoring shows now only an average of four cases being logged per day compared to more than 400 daily average from August and September and there was a day in October when the cases were above 800. (Leonardo Micua)
