Captain Renan de la Cruz, public information officer of the Pangasinan Provincial Police Office, said per report of the Mangaldan police, Morillo was proceeding to her second home in Barangay Tebag from the town’s Poblacion when she was ambushed and killed.

Her vehicle was found in the middle of the road, with her bleeding inside, when noticed by other motorists, who immediately reported the matter to the police.

Captain De La Cruz said P/Colonel Jeff Fanged, police provincial director of Pangasinan, already sent to Mangaldan teams from the Provincial Investigation and Provincial Intelligence Divisions to  assist the Mangaldan Police in investigating the incident.

The teams, are now seeking footages of Close Circuit Television cameras in a bid to identify and pinpoint the perpetrators, De la Cruz said.

According to De la Cruz,  only the Department of the Interior and Local Government could determine if the killing of Morillo be considered as a post-election related incident. He assured, however, that a Special Investigation Task Group (SITG) will be formed shortly by Col. Fanged to speed up the investigation of the case.  (Leonardo Micua/Ahikam Pasion)
