Reelected kagawad dies in road mishap

A RE-ELECTED barangay kagawad in Poblacion, Labrador town lost her life in a road accident on the morning of November 1.

The victim, Annie Orjalo, 57, was riding her scooter along the national road in the area when she was hit and run over by a pickup truck driven by Raymond Quesada, 36, from Barangay Carmen in Rosales town, as she made a left turn on the intersection.

Quesada was traversing the road just behind Orjalo. Despite being rushed to a hospital in Dagupan City, Orjalo succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment. Quesada, who emerged unscathed, is currently in police custody.

In another road incident on the evening of November 1, an outgoing barangay kagawad in Tayug town lost his life.

Mario Patero, 56, was driving a kuliglig carrying several passengers, Mary Jane Batadista, 39, Lolita Ato, 63, Adelaida Tipon, 72, Marcelina Batadista, 65, Prince Harley Consul, 15, Dexie Jane Batadista, 11, and Alex Jazz Batadista, 9, all residents of Barangay Santo Domingo in Tayug.

They were en route to the cemetery when Marlon delos Reyes, 47, a resident of Barangay Toketek in the same town, swerved his tricycle to the opposite lane where the family was traveling.

While Patero lost his life, his companions sustained minor injuries

An investigation has revealed that delos Reyes was intoxicated at the time of the incident and was driving without a valid driver’s license and the tricycle he was driving lacked adequate lighting. (Ahikam Pasion)
