Barangay official victimized by online scammer
THE barangay administrator of Tapuac in Dagupan City lost more than P500,000 of his savings deposit after he was victimized by an online scammer.
The victim, identified as Ryan de Guzman, said the online scammer misrepresented himself as a bank employee and asked for his personal information through text messages.
Without verifying the identity of the person and his affiliation with the bank, De Guzman freely gave his personal information required.
It was too late when he later checked his bank deposit and found that P500,000 of his bank deposit was already withdrawn. De Guzman referred the case to the NBI. (By 104.7 IFM Dagupan)
