Woman dead after being runs over by cement mixer

A woman died on the spot after a cement mixer runs over her on the busy street of Lingayen town on Friday, November 25.

Victim Guillerma Pidlaoan, 50, resident of Barangay Malimpuec in Basista town, was with her grandchild when the accident happened.

Police investigation showed she, along with her grandchild was crossing the street while going to their parked car when a cement mixer, driven by suspect Melicio Delos Santos Elefanio, 45, resident of Barangay Pangpang in San Carlos City, crashed into their car, pushing it forward, and Pidlaoan was crushed by the cement mixer, and died on the spot.

Elefanio, however, ran away but was eventually tracked and nabbed by responding policemen. He was charged with reckless Imprudence resulting in homicide, physical injury, and damage to property.

Elderly woman killed over witchcraft allegations

A 74-year-old woman was gunned down by a still unidentified suspect in Basista town.

Victim was identified as Arcenia Frias, resident of Barangay Navatat.

Police reports reveal the victim was inside her house when shots were suddenly heard.

Witnesses noticed two lookouts, who were later identified as Jose Resultay, resident of Barangay Poblacion, and Ricardo de Guzman, resident of Barangay Navatat. Both are now behind bars, while police are still on the hunt for the gunman.

Police said the victim allegedly called a witch by others, but are looking at land dispute as a possible motive, too.

Meter reader shot dead

A meter reader of the Central Pangasinan Electric Cooperative (CENPELCO) Bayambang office was shot dead in Basista town.

Police investigation showed the victim, Charlie Estabillo, resident of Barangay Tandang Sora in San Carlos City, was ambushed by still unidentified men.

Aside from being a meter reader, Estabillo also reported consumers unable to pay their monthly dues. Probe continues over the motive behind Estabillo’s murder.

Police ruled out robbery, as his wallet was found intact.

Minor dies in San Carlos City resort

A 17-year-old boy drowned inside a resort in Barangay Tandoc, San Carlos City.

Enrico Ilumin, senior high school student and resident of Barangay Cobol, was with his family when the incident occurred.

Investigators said the victim was found floating lifeless in the pool by his kin. He was rushed to the hospital, but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.#
