Minor dies in motor show accident

A 16-year-old, Grade 10 student died after in a freak accident during a motor show in Mapandan town, Saturday night, November 19.

Victim Mark Anthony Moreno, a, resident of Barangay Jimenez in Mapandan town, was attending the ‘Engine Roar’, motor show organized by Xfinity Production when the accident happened.

“Nung binobomba nila yung scooter, biglang pumutok yung likuran. Tumilapon yung mga debris ng crankcase. May mga natamaan”, said Ronel, one of the motor show aficionados who witnessed the accident.

Moreno was standing behind the scooter that exploded and was seriously wounded. Others injured were Mark Anthony Cunanan, 20, and Ericka Grace Cariño, 16, all residents of Mapandan town.

Moreno was rushed to the hospital but died while undergoing treatment.

Xfinity Production extended its apologies over the incident through a Facebook post while Mapandan local government committed to help the families of the victims.

Police are investigating the incident to determine liability of the organizer.

Construction worker arrested after drug reveal

A construction worker was arrested in Calasiao after police found suspected illegal drugs in his possession.

Suspect Albert Ballesteros, 21, a resident of the town’s Barangay Malabao, was wearing a bonnet and strapped with a belt bag and observed by policemen at the checkpoint to be moving suspiciously under a waiting shed nearby at Barangay Nagsaing .

Ballesteros’ actions prompted policemen to approach him at the waiting shed but he rode away on seeing the policemen approach but the latter caught up with him.

Police searched his bag and revealed a sachet of suspected shabu weighing 0.07 grams.

Ballesteros is now under the custody of Calasiao PNP and is facing raps in violation of Republic Act 9165.

Electric post falls, hurting  two men

TW\ men were injured when an electric post hit by car fell on them.

Victims Arjay Castillo, 26, resident of Barangay Magsaysay in Alaminos City, and Simplicion Gonzales, 73, resident of Barangay Paitan in Sual town were walking  along the highway when the accident happened.

Police investigation showed a car driven by Erwin Camba, 58, crashed into a wooden electric post in Barangay Paitan East that fell on the two victims.

The victims were rushed to a hospital in Alaminos City, and are reportedly in stable condition.

Motorcycle rider hit by garong dies

A 29-year-old rider died in a motorcycle accident in Barangay Minien East, Santa Barbara Wednesday night, November 23.

Victim Daniel Enriquez, driver, and a resident of the town’s Barangay Botao, was riding his motorcycle along the national highway when he had a head-on collision with a garong driven by Jerome Manluctao Panguio, 25, a resident of Barangay Minien East.

Police investigation showss Panguio crossed the lane of Enriquez that resulted in their collision.

The duo were rushed to the hospital, but Enriquez was declared dead on arrival, while Panguio is still under medical treatment.
