THE gunman in the slaying of P/Staff Sergeant Jeffrey Navarro, 25, a member of the Bugallon Police Station last October 27 was positively identified but his name is being withheld by the police since he remains at-large and is the subject of a continuing manhunt by the police in Pangasinan.

P/SSgt. Navarro was on board his car when he was shot to death in Barangay Salasa, Bugallon by a lone gun man on board a motorcycle scooter. At that time, he was conducting surveillance and monitoring of illegal activities and wanted persons in Barangay Salasa.

P/Major Ria Tacderan, public information officer of the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office, said that although the gunman is still at-large, his name was already referred to the Provincial Prosecutors Office in Lingayen by the Bugallon Police and the Provincial Investigation and Detective Management Unit of the Pangasinan PPO under Docket  No. 1-01-INV-22K-00411 for the possible filing of case for murder.

She said Special Investigation Task Group “Ignacio” and the KIMAT (Keen Investigation Monitoring Action Team), located reliable witnesses, who pinpointed to the gunman and their accounts were supported by available photos in the Rouge Gallery and reviews of CCTV footages in Lingayen, Binmaley, Aguilar, Mangatarem and nearby municipalities.
