Four top drug personalities arrested in Dagupan

A two-day anti-drug buy-bust operations conducted by the Dagupan City Police led by P/Colonel Vicente Castor Jr. and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) on November 22-23, bagged four top drug personalities including Aljon Ruizan, a regional top priority target of PDEA.

The Pangasinan Police Provincial Office reported that Ruizan, alias “Aljun”, a resident of Nueva Street in Barangay II & III in Dagupan, a target of operation by PNP and PDEA under Coplan “Junjun”, was arrested on November 23 in an anti-illegal drug buy-bust in Barangay Mayombo in Dagupan City.

Ruizan was arrested after he sold shabu in a plastic sachet with an estimated weight of more or less five grams with P34,500 street drug value to an undercover agent. He was arrested as soon as he received one genuine P500 bill and 34 pieces of photo-copied P1,000 bill.

Another big catch in the two-day successive anti-drug buy-bust operations in the city was one Sharon Aquino, 40, a woman canteen owner from Barangay Herrero-Perez, a repeat offender on illegal drugs with three cases for violations of the anti-drugs law still pending in Regional Trial Courts in Dagupan City, San Carlos City and Manila.

Aquino was arrested in a drug buy-bust operation in Bonuan Binloc when she sold nine small sachets of shabu with an estimated weight of more or less 35 grams valued at P230,000 to an undercover agent.

Others arrested were: Raffy Marcelino, 49, from Nueva Street in Barangay II & III in Dagupan in a drug buy-bust operation in Barangay Caranglaan on November 22 after he sold one small sachet containing suspected shabu with an estimated weight of two grams valued at P13,600; and Dennis Mallare Gavino, 50, a native of San Leonardo, Nueva Ecija but presently residing  in Barangay Mangin. Dagupan City, arrested on November 23 after he sold two pieces of small-size sachets of shabu with an estimated weight of 0.9 gram valued at P6,200. in Barangay Lucao.

The charges for violations of Section 5 under Article II of RA 9165 are now being readied against the four suspects for filing before the Provincial  Prosecutors’ Office in Dagupan City. (Leonardo Micua)
