BFP begins dialogue with firecracker producers

AS the holiday season draws near, law enforcers and firemen started to meet with manufacturers and vendors of firecrackers and warned them of possible causes of accidental explosions in their workplaces.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in Mangaldan was among the first that arranged meetings with local firecracker manufacturers.

Fire Inspector Virgilio Mamitag III, municipal fire marshal, reminded the manufacturers to secure local permits and fire extinguishers.

These are the basic requirements for firecracker producers and sellers, who will be lining up the town’s firecracker zone to sell until the 2023 New Year revelry.

While the meeting ended on a high note, the firecracker vendors urged local authorities to allow them to sell firecrackers even during Christmas Eve, presently prohibited by the Mangaldan government.

Mamitag said the request will be discussed with local officials.

The BFP will continue to set more meetings in coordination with the local police force, and the municipal DRRMO. (Ahikam Pasion)
