Two ex-rebels militias surrender in San Nicolas

TWO farmers, former members of the “Militia ng Bayan” of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG), surrendered to law enforcers in Pangasinan on October 22 in San Nicolas town.

The former rebels who surrendered were identified only as alias “Ka Eddie”, 52; and alias “Ka Pilo”, both residents of Barangay Sta. Maria East, San Nicolas town. Both were former militia men under the Sigmaru Unit Command of the Kilusang Larangang Gerilya Caraballo believed to be operating in the border areas of Pangasinan.

Both surrendered peacefully to the Pangasinan 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company led by P/Lt. Ringo Ariola under  P/Lt. Colonel Quintin Casabar Jr., force commander, with the Regional Intelligence Unit, Provincial Intelligence Unit, 104th Mobile Company of the Regional Force Battalion, Delta Company, 71st Infantry Battalion, 7th Infantry Division of the Philippine Army.

“Ka Eddie” surrendered his personal firearm, a Caliber 38 revolver without markings with five bullets in its chamber while “Ka Pilo” surrendered two rifle grenades.

Both former CTGs signed a pledge of allegiance to the Philippine government and were turned over under the custody of the San Nicolas LGU.

Both surrenderers received two sacks of rice each as assistance from the police. (Leonardo Micua)
