PNP: Pangasinan elections peaceful, orderly

THE province of Pangasinan conducted a generally peaceful and orderly 2022 National and Local Elections (NLE), according to the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (PPPO).

P/CoL Richmond Tadina, PPPO director, thanked all PNP personnel, Barangay Peacekeeping Action Teams, tanods, teachers and force multipliers for their support in making the May 9 election peaceful and orderly.

Tadina said during the election, PPPO monitored minor incidents and reports of alleged vote-buying but no violent incidents.

“Ang naging problema lang kaya medyo tumagal ay may mga around 34 vote-counting machines (VCMs) sa mga ibang precincts ang nag-malfunctioned,” Tadina said

Based on reports from PPPO, the areas that reported incidents of malfunctioning VCMs were Anda, Agno, Bani, Bolinao, Sual, Alaminos City, Aguilar, Labrador, Mangatarem, Bayambang, Mapandan, Mangaldan, Dagupan City, Bautista, Binalonan, Laoac, Pozorrubio, Balungao, Rosales, San Nicolas, Tayug, and Umingan.

Some of the technical problems that hounded the malfunctioning VCMs were: it could not read the ballot, paper, jamming, overheating, failure to print receipt, sudden shutdown, and technical problems of SD Card.  (PIA Pangasinan/EMSA)
