Two arrested in anti-drug operations

A DRUG personality on the watchlist of the police was arrested in a buy-bust operation conducted by agents of the Drug Enforcement Unit of the Dagupan Police in coordination with PDEA Region 1 near the Tambac Elementary School in Dagupan City on November 24,  past 4:00 a.m.

A report relayed by P/Colonel Ferdinand de Asis, deputy police provincial director for operations, identified the suspect as Larry de la Cruz Jr., alias “Mata”,  25, a resident of Barangay Bacayao Norte.

Unknowingly, De la Cruz transacted business with an undercover policeman who posed as buyer and to whom he sold more than one gram of shabu in two sachets. As soon as he received the P500 marked bill and five photocopied P500 bills, he was promptly placed under arrest.

The transaction was witnessed from the sideline by Kagawad Jeffrey Lambino of Tambac and Jayson Uson, a representative of the Department of Justice,

Also arrested by the police in Mangatarem town on the same day was Bryan Sarmiento of Barangay Ponglo  Muelag, Mangatarem who was riding on a motorcycle that was flagged down by the police manning a checkpoint.

When asked by the police to show his driver’s license and documents to his motorcycle, Sarmiento one sachet of shabu that weighed .074 grams fell from his wallet

He was promptly arrested and later charged with for violation of RA 9165. (Leonardo Micua)
