Pawnshop manager shot, survives ordeal

A 30-year-old area manager of a pawnshop was peppered with bullets by still unidentified gunmen in Barangay Coliling, San Carlos City, Wednesday afternoon, but survived.

Initial investigation from the San Carlos City Police revealed victim Celestino Layacan, a resident of San Pedro-Taloy, San Carlos City, was riding his scooter, when two suspects on board a motorcycle approached him and started shooting him then sped off.

Layacan, who suffered gunshot wounds in  his hips and legs, was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital in the city, where he is undergoing treatment and reportedly in stable condition.

The police in San Carlos City and neighboring towns conducted dragnet operations but failed to trace the suspects.
