Region 1 registers new spike in COVID-19 cases

210 NEW CASES IN R-1; 38 IN PANGASINAN

AS of April 1, Maundy Thursday, Region 1 registered already logged 1,727 active COVID-19 cases and the region is bracing itself for a new spike in the contagion as shown by statistics released by the Department of Health-Center for Health Development 1.

There were 210 new cases that were registered on April 1, at least 114 from La Union, 49 from Ilocos Sur, 39 from Pangasinan, eight in Dagupan City. (Ilocos Norte reported no case).

The new addition has brought the confirmed cases in the region since the start of the pandemic to 9,595 while 7,546 have recovered but 322 patients have died. (Two died only last April 1).

The updated DOH-CHD 1 statistics show Pangasinan is already second to La Union in having the most number of cases in Region1. La Union accounts for 658 active cases and Pangasinan, 579.

Ilocos Norte is third with 242 active cases, followed by Ilocos Sur, 192 cases and Dagupan City, 67 cases.

However, Pangasinan is still with the highest the number of confirmed cases at 4,744 since March 2020 but at the same time leads in the number of recovered patients, 3.948.

La Union is second in the number of total confirmed cases (2,023) and recoveries (1,334), followed by Dagupan City (1,232 confirmed cases) and (1,103 recoveries), Ilocos Norte (1,022 confirmed cases) and (783 recoveries) and Ilocos Sur (574 confirmed cases) and (378 recoveries).

The present number of active COVID-19 cases was only 18 percent of the total confirmed cases in the region while total number of recoveries constituted 78.645 percent of the total number of confirmed cases. (Leonardo Micua)
