THE Police Regional Office formed a Special Investigation Task Group (SITG) following the ambush-slaying of P/Corporal Reynald Reyes, 29, a member of the Police Mobile Force at Police Regional Office in Cordillera along the zigzag road in Poblacion, Sual in the early morning on February 7.

STIG P/Cpl. Reyes was formed by P/Brig. General  Emmanuel Peralta, PRO1 director, in order to identify and arrest of killers of Reyes who, at that time was on board his motorcycle that came from Bolinao town on his way to report for work in Camp Bado Dangwa in La Trinidad, Benguet when gunned down by unidentified suspects.

Sual police said the victim, a resident of Barangay Poblacion in Anda town, was initially reported as a casualty in a vehicular traffic incident but when first-aiders from the town’s primary care infirmary arrived and removed the victim’s helmet, two slugs from a still unidentified gun caliber fell out.

Reyes had two gunshot wounds in the head and one on the leg.

P/Capt. Fredwin Sergio, chief of police of Sual, said the investigating team is securing CCTV footages near the crime scene in a bid to identify the perpetrators.

The police are not ruling out the possibility that the motive of the killing could be work related or personal grudge. (Leonardo Micua/Ahikam Pasion)
