Calasiao POSO chief shot dead
SITG FORMED
AFTER the head of Calasiao town’s Public Order and Safety Office (POSO), Reynaldo Bugayong, 54, was shot dead by still unidentified suspects early Tuesday morning, February 16, a special investigation task group (SITG) was formed by the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office to investigate and solve the case.
According to P/ Lt. Col. Ferdinand De Asis, Calasiao police chief, told a press conference last Wednesday that the SITG, composed of the investigators, intelligence operatives of the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office and Crime Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG-Pangasinan) was formed to investigate the case.
He said closed-circuit television camera (CCTV) footages of the crime were recovered.
Based on the footages, Bugayong was on his way to work on board his motorcycle when he was waylaid by four suspects on board two motorcycles.
Bugayong sustained seven gunshot wounds in different parts of the body, two in his head and the suspects immediately fled the crime scene towards Barangay Lasip.
De Asis said while “persons of interest” have been identified, the motive still has to be determined.
Meanwhile, Mayor Joseph Arman Bauzon urged authorities to solve the killing soon.
“I ask the Philippine National Police to make sure that those perpetrators of this barbaric criminal act will be put behind bars in no time,” he said.
