290-DAY WAR VS COVID-19

AT the end of the year and 290 days from March 16, 2020, Pangasinan still has 319 active cases confined in hospital and in various LGU isolation facilities.

In sum, the Provincial Health Office’s (PHO) records showed that the province’s war vs COVID -19 tallied 2,772 confirmed COVID-19 cases, out of which 2,340 patients had recovered but 113 had died.

The data from PHO’s December 31 monitoring report further showed that of the 2,772 confirmed COVID-19 cases, 2,089 patients were in 47 towns and cities of the province while 683 were in Dagupan City.

On December 31, the last day of the year, 37 cases were recorded against only 12 recovered cases. Fortunately, no death was recorded that day.

Throughout the 290-day period, Dagupan City remained the epicenter of the COVID-19 pandemic in Pangasinan except for two days when Sison town reported 51 cases owing to contagion in that town’s cement manufacturing plant. Prompt action by company quickly arrested the spread.

The PHO tally on December 31 also showed:
