THE National Bureau of Investigation (NBI)-Dagupan operatives arrested an employee of the local government of Sual for alleged extortion and attempted rape in relation to Republic Act 10175 or Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.

NBI-DADO chief Rizaldy Jaymalin identified the suspect as Jumah Alejandro, 23, a resident of Sual, after his victim reported to NBI that Alejandro threatened to post her nude photos on the internet if she would not comply to his two demands – to give him P30.,000 and to have sex with him.

The Alejandro allegedly got the victim’s nude photos from her conversation with a foreign national who turned out to be Alejandro himself who used a different Facebook name, in return for some cash.

“The victim has a sick mother during that time and was desperate to have cash to care for her,” Jaymalin said in an interview.

The NBI conducted an entrapment operation after the victim agreed to meet the suspect in front of a bank in Alaminos City then proceed to a motel.

After she handed him the money inside an envelope with only two pieces of genuine P1,000 bill while the rest was cut newspapers and shortly after they entered a motel room, the NBI operatives barged inside their room and arrested him.

A P300,000 bail bond has been recommended for his temporary liberty. (Eva Visperas/ Ahikam Pasion)
