Lingayen adopts strict measures contra COVID-19
ALL cockpit arenas operating in Lingayen town were ordered closed until further notice.
This was contained in the executive order issued by Lingayen Mayor Leopoldo Bataoil last Thursday to further avert the spread of COVID-19.
Specifically, Bataoil’s Executive Order No . 06, series of 2021, titled Reinforcing Health and Safety Protocols in the Municipality of Lingayen, directed that illegal or unauthorized activities or games of cockfighting, jueteng or jai-alai or horse racing numbers, bingo and other forms of lotteries, cara y cruz, pompiang and the like, 7-11, and any game using dice, blackjack, lucky nine, poker, and its derivatives, monte, and other card games, or games using plastic tiles and the like, or other forms of races using money or articles of value at stake are prohibited.
Among the measures instituted:
- Liquor ban is also being implemented in the town – curfew is from 9:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m.; flag raising and flag lowering ceremonies shall be attended only by personnel from the Philippine National Police and Bureau of Fire Protection until further notice.
- The Lingayen Baywalk from the area of El Puerto Marina up to Lingayen Tourism Center is already temporarily closed by the EO; while jogging, walking and cycling are allowed, swimming, mass gatherings, picnics and sporting events are prohibited.
- Parking in the beachfront is also not allowed.
- For deaths unrelated to COVID-19, only the priests, ministers or officiants and immediate family members of the deceased are allowed during the wake which shall not last not more than five days.
- Funeral processions, whether on board vehicles or on foot, shall be attended only by the immediate family members of the deceased who must wear minimum health standards.
- The decontamination of the municipal hall, Lingayen Civic Center, plaza, public market and main roads shall be done at least twice a week until further notice.
Lingayen is number seven in the Provincial Health Office’s monitoring report on COVID-19 with 25 active cases, as of Jan. 15. (Eva Visperas)
