Fire marshals undergo firearms training

THE 48 municipal and city fire marshals of the Bureau of Fire Protection stations have started holding a one-day training in the handling of firearms at the Camp Tito Abat in Manaoag town.

Fire Chief Inspector Georgian Pascua, BFP provincial fire marshal, said the training was conducted in anticipation of President Rodrigo Duterte’s mandate to arm firefighters.

DILG Secretary Eduardo Año also called Duterte’s proposal as ‘timely and critical’.

“Despite the decreasing crime rate in the country, having the BFP’s firefighters in our peace and order campaign is a boost and welcome addition in ensuring a safe and secure country”, said Año in a statement early 2020.
