DILG awards 36 towns for anti-drug performance

THIRTY-six towns of Pangasinan were awarded by the Department  of the Interior and Local Government for sustaining the “drug-cleared” status of their drug-affected barangays, while 16 of the 36, plus three others or 19 were awarded for sustaining their “unaffected barangays” status.

The towns received the Anti-Drug Abuse Council (ADAC) Special Award 2020 from the Department of the Interior and Local Government during a virtual awards ceremony in Manila last December 18.

The 36 that sustained the drug-cleared status of their drug-affected barangays are Alaminos City, Anda, Aguilar, Alcala, Asingan, Bani, Bolinao, Burgos, Basista, Bayambang, Bugallon, Bautista, Binalonan, Balungao, Calasiao, Dasol, Labrador, Laoac, Lingayen, Mabini, Malasiqui, Mangatarem, Mangaldan, Mapandan, Natividad, Pozorrubio, San Carlos, Sta. Barbara, San Jacinto, San Manuel, San Nicolas, Sta. Maria, Umingan, Urbiztondo, Urdaneta and Villasis.

The 19 towns and cities cited for having sustained the startups of their drug unaffected barangays are Alaminos City, Anda, Bolinao, Burgos, Bugallon, Binmaley, Dasol, Infanta, Mabini, Malasiqui, Mangatarem, Natividad, San Carlos City, Sto. Tomas, San Manuel, Umingan and Urbiztondo.

Sto. Tomas was recognized as the only drug-unaffected town in Pangasinan.

The civil society organizations awardees from Pangasinan include the National Chaplains of the Philippines, Pangasinan chapter; and the Descendants Ministries International, Inc.

The virtual awarding ceremony was led by Interior and Local Government Secretary Eduardo Año and PNP Chief Director-General Debold Sinas.

The ADAC Special Awards cites local government units, civil society organizations and regional focal persons for their continued efforts in complementing the national anti-illegal drug campaign of the government. (Leonardo Micua)
