DepEd Dagupan picks Salisay School
FACE-TO-FACE CLASS DRY RUN
THE Department of Education (DepEd) Dagupan City Division has chosen Salisay Elementary School as the area for the dry run of face-to-face classes in 2021.
This, after President Rodrigo Duterte approved the recommendation of DepEd to return to face-to-face classes in COVID-19 low-risk areas.
Aguedo Fernandez, Dagupan City Division Superintendent, said the school was selected because it has one of the lowest COVID-19 cases, under the Modified General Community Quarantine (MGCQ), noted “for its proper LGU-DepEd coordination, and amicable relationship between the parents, LGU, and the DepEd, and efficient preparedness in the implementation of health protocols.
“The school has proper entrance and exit markings with alcohol stations scattered in the campus,” Fernandez said. “The relationship among DepEd, parents, and the LGU is a big factor in order for the face-to-face classes to be possible here”, he added.
He said the parents received the plan well after they were briefed on the DepEd’s plans and assured of the children’s safety.
He, however, clarified that not all the students can join the dry run because the number will be limited to be able to fully implement the health protocols, and students will not be made to go to school every day during the dry-run.
To date, Salisay only recorded two COVID-19 cases, both of whom have already recovered. (Ahikam Pasion)
