81 new confirmed cases, 71 recoveries, one death

DECEMBER 4-10 UPDATE

THIRTY-one persons and 28 close contacts of COVID-19 patients in the province were infected over the December 4 to 10 period according to a province-wide monitoring conducted by the Provincial Health Office (PHO).

Dr. Anna de Guzman, provincial health officer, said the newly 31 infected persons only shows that COVID-19 has not waned and underscored on the need for people to continue to strictly observe the prescribed health and safety protocols.

She said that the 28 close contacts infected, were kin of COVID-19 patients who may have transmitted the disease right in their homes or neighborhood.

The 31 were among the 81 newly confirmed positive cases registered in Pangasinan for over seven-day period, against 71 patients that recovered from the disease with only one death recorded.

The lone fatality last week was an 82-year-old woman from Manaoag who died on December 4 after being confined at the LGU isolation facility since November 19.

All these brought the total number of active cases in the province to 159 as of 6 p.m. on December 10, which was slightly higher than the 136 recorded last week.

In summation, the added new confirmed cases increased confirmed COVID-19 cases throughout Pangasinan to 2,285: 1,731 were from the 47 towns and cities in Pangasinan and 554 from Dagupan City.

Out of the 2,285 cases recorded, 2,033 (or 89%) have recovered.

So far, over the same period, there were 19 APORs (or Authorized Persons Outside of their Residences), four frontliners, two Locally Stranded Individuals (LSIs) and one Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) who tested positive for COVID-19.

The 10 APORS infected were from Sison town among whom were workers at the cement plant.

Meanwhile, Dr. De Guzman lauded personnel of Rural Health Units who were in charge of managing LGU isolation for their efficient handling of COVID-19 patients who either have mild symptoms or asymptomatic, all of them except for a few with co-morbidities, have recovered. (Leonardo Micua)
