THE Dagupan City Police Station has identified the suspects involved in robbing the house of Provincial Information Officer Orpheus Velasco.

P/Lt. Col. Luis Ventura, chief of Dagupan City PNP, identified the suspects as Dagupan residents Joel Morante, 24, resident of Caldona Street, Malued District and Jeffrey Sanchez, 18, resident of Sitio Catacdang, Bonuan Gueset.

Ventura said the suspects took away two smartphones, two digital single-lens reflex (DSLR) cameras and a gold ring with birthstone on the dawn of Nov. 13.

He said the suspects, wearing black jacket with hood, were caught with the help of CCTV camera and the coordination with the community.

Morante was arrested on Nov. 15 when he was caught on a pot session during an anti-illegal drug operation while Sanchez was nabbed on Nov. 19 when a cellphone technician reported that Sanchez used a middleman to sell the phone.

Recovered were one DSLR camera from Morante and one cellphone from Sanchez.

Ventura added that before Morante was arrested, he was already reported on Nov. 21 being involved in another robbery-holdup incident.

Both suspects are part of an organized group that Sanchez leads and both have criminal records. Morante has an existing warrant of arrest since 2017.

“They were not just operating in Dagupan City but are also in nearby towns in robbery, theft, motornapping, carnapping, akyat-bahay and even illegal drug trades,” Ventura  said.

Velasco said he will pursue filing of criminal charges against the suspects. (Ahikam Pasion)
