Lockdown in 4 villages, liquor ban lifted in Calasiao
AS Calasiao Mayor Bauzon lifted the imposition of critical zones in four barangays this month, the ban on the sale, distribution as well as consumption of liquor and other alcoholic beverages in the municipality of Calasiao was also lifted effective November 4, 2020.
Restored to normal quarantine status was the 40-household compound spanning Purol 3 and 4 in Barangay Gabon; the identified apartment compound in Purok 2, Barangay Lasip; the 13-household compound and rental units between the western wall of the Coca Cola Bottling Plant and Alano compound in Barangay Bued; and a household in Barangay Doyong.
The lifting of the liquor ban is contained in Executive Order No. 75, series of 2020, signed on November 3 by Bauzon, citing the steady decrease in the number of new COVID-19 cases in the town during the past few days, based on the daily report of the Municipal Health Office.
He attributed steady decrease in the number of new cases to the concerted efforts of the Municipal Task Force on COVID-19 and the discipline shown by residents.
As of November 4, Calasiao registered only 11 active COVID-19 cases and is already down to being the only fifth town with the highest number of active COVID-19 cases.
The liquor ban in Calasiao was enforced two months ago when coronavirus disease contagion was on the upswing.
Bauzon said he had to impose the liquor ban when he noted that some local transmission of COVID-19 was brought about by alcohol consumption and the subsequent loss of inhibitions by people in social gatherings.
Establishments have been ordered to strictly follow the minimum health standard and or protocols set forth by IATF, particularly “no sharing of glasses, bottles and other utensils by people drinking liquor.” (Leonardo Micua)
