DA, PHILMECH, award agricultural machineries to the Farmers of Pangasinan

DEPARTMENT of Agriculture (DA) Secretary William D. Dar, Governor Amado I. Espino III and Congressman Jumel Anthony Espino together with the Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (PHILMECH) led the Turn-Over and Awarding Ceremony of Agricultural Machineries to the Farmers Cooperatives and Associations (FCAs) of Pangasinan on November 6 at the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center.
“Kami po sa Kagawaran sa Pagsasaka ay sumasaludo sa kagitingan ng mga magsasaka at mangingisda dahil kahit may pandemya ay nandyan pa rin kayo nagsasaka, nangingisda, nagnenegosyo. Ang tawag sa inyo ay Bayani kita. Kayo po ay aming bayani,” said DA Secretary William Dar.
Governor Espino extended his gratitude to the DA for the continuous support to the agricultural sector of the province of Pangasinan: Maraming salamat po mula noon na umupo kayo bilang secretary, ang pagmamahal niyo po sa Pangasinan ay hindi humihinto.
“Alagaan po natin ang ating sarili, ang ating pananim, palakasin po natin ang ating pangagatawaan. Tama po ang sinabi ng ating Congressman, umaasa po ang buong Pilipinas sa lahat po ng magsasaka ng buong bansa.” added Governor Espino.
“Sana itong mga ipinagkaloob sa atin ay ating alagaan, lalo po sanang pagyabungin ang inyong mga ani. Ngayon po natin maramdaman kung ano po ang importansya ng mga magsasaka dahil kung wala po kayo ay baka nagutom na po ang buong bansa ngayong pandemya,” said Second District Representative Jumel Anthony Espino.
Secretary Dar also urged the farmers to join cooperatives and associations in order to receive continuous support from the national government.
“Hindi kami tumitigil na hikayatin ang ating mga farmers na wala pang membership sa aming mga associations at kooperatiba na maging myembro na. Sinisigurado rin namin na lahat ng ating magsasaka ay kasama sa registry ng basic sector ng agriculture,” said Provincial Agriculturist Dalisay Moya.
Ms. Moya also stressed that the machineries given by the DA and PHILMECH are a big help to reduce the labor cost and to speed up the land preparation of farms.
Moreover, Secretary Dar commended the hard work of the province led by Governor Espino.
“Malaki ang potential at kontribusyon ng probinsya ng Pangasinan sa food security ng ating bansa. Hindi po ito ang huling pagbibigay namin dito,” said Secretary Dar.
Also present during the program were PHILMECH Director Baldwin Jallorina, DA-RFO1 OIC-Regional Executive Director Nestor Domenden, DA Assistant Secretary Noel Reyes, DA-RFO1 Assistant Director Marlyn Manipon and Jovita Datuin, BFAR Regional Director Dina Gaerlan, Ruby Matutino, representing Sen. Cynthia Villar, Provincial Agriculturist Dalisay Moya and Assistant Provincial Agriculturist Nestor Batalla.
