COVID-19 cases in Pangasinan still on a decline

THE number of COVID-19 cases in Pangasinan continues to decline as only 176 remain active cases confined in hospitals and isolation facilitries as of November 26, compared to 236 on November 19 as gleaned from the monitoring of the Provincial Health Office.

For the period November 20 to 26, only 101 cases were logged while 154 patients had recovered. However, nine patients died while under isolation in hospitals and LGU facilities.

This brought the overall total of cases in the province since the beginning of the pandemic  to 2,109, out of whom 1,847 had recovered, 86 had died and the rest (176) are active cases, most of whom were diagnosed as asymptomatic.

Of the overall total, 1,594 were registered in 47 towns and cities of the province while 476 were registered in Dagupan, a component city of Pangasinan.

Another indicator that COVID-19 cases are on a decline was the fact that only five cases were registered consecutively on November 24 and 25, nine on November 22, 14 on November 26 and 15 on November 23.

The higher number of new confirmed cases were reported on November 20 (27 cases) and on November 21 (18).

On the increasing number of patients that recovered, the highest registered was 51 on November 20; 37 recovered on November 24; 19 on November 25; 18 on November 21; 12 on November 23; and 9 on November 22.

Meanwhile, the nine new fatalities were a 68-year-old woman from San Carlos City, a 59-year-old woman from Manaoag; 57-year-old woman from Alcala and a 73-year-old woman from Mangaldan, who all died on November 24.

Two others died on November 23: a 65-year-old man from San Fabian; and a 78-year-old man from Malasiqui who both died on November 23; a 66-year-old man from Urdaneta City and another 65-year-old man from Asingan, died on November 21.
