APORs traced to new confirmed COVID-19 cases
INTERACTION of authorized persons outside of residences (APORs) with local residents is believe to be the source of infection among the 137 newly confirmed COVID-19 patients who had no travel history.
This was bared by a daily cumulative report of the Provincial Health Office (PHO) from November 6 to 12 that also noted that 116 patients also recovered from the disease and were discharge from hospitals and isolation facilities.
At the same time, the PHO report showed there were 66 APORs who tested positive for COVID-19 and their specimens were confirmed in Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction tests at the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center and in local accredited molecular laboratories.
There were initially 39 residents found infected with the coronavirus disease and 24 were traced to have been subsequently infected from their close contacts with positive cases.
Amon the newly confirmed COVID-19 cases were nine frontliners and one locally stranded individuals (LSI).
APORs are defined as those workers of essential industries that had been allowed by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Infectious Diseases (IATF) to reopen during the pandemic under the Modified General Community Quarantine (MGCQ), classification.
The close contacts are either members of the family or friends and associates of COVID-19 positive cases that mingled with them.
As of 6 p.m. on November 12, the total number of COVID-19 cases in Pangasinan already reached 1,906 cases (1,478 from 47 towns and cities of Pangasinan and 498 from Dagupan City) while registering 1,570 patients that recovered. Still 262 are active cases and are confined in isolation facilities and hospitals. So far, 74 had died from COVID-19.
Among the recent fatalities were a 44-year-old man from Aguilar who died on November 10, a 72-year-old man from Alaminos City on November 9 and a 35-year-old woman from Dagupan on November 6.
The PHO recorded no new confirmed case, no recovery and no death on November 9. (Leonardo Micua)
