CALASIAO MOTEL MURDER

A woman was found dead inside a motel room in Barangay Cabilocaan in Calasiao town last Sunday, October 4, allegedly killed by her lover who surrendered and confessed to the crime in a fit of jealousy during a heated argument.

P/ Lt. Col. Ferdinand de Asis, Calasiao chief of police, said the victim, Brenda Bruno, 44, a resident of Malasiqui, was found lying dead on the floor a few hours after she and the suspect, Renato Abalos, a former barangay kagawad of Darawey, Bayambang. checked-in.

Abalos, according to the motel personnel, left 15 minutes after they checked in.

Alarmed that he did not check out with Bruno, they decided to check the room and found Bruno dead.

Abalos surrendered on Wednesday, October 7 to the Bayambang Police Station and confessed to killing Bruno by strangling her with his bare hands and with a pillow to finish her.

According to Abalos, he and the victim were in a relationship for four years and he was enraged on discovering that Bruno was allegedly involved in another affair. Out of rage, Abalos strangled her and left the room.

The police are also looking into a robbery case because Bruno’s relatives said she had cash and jewelry with her when she left the house and these were missing at the crime scene.

Abalos is facing a murder charge, possibly with robbery. (Ahikam Pasion)
